Origins of Orcrist: The Elven Forged Blade

Like its companion Glamdring, Orcrist was imbued with a fearsome power that caused it to glow in the presence of orcs. It was wielded by a hero within Gondolin, though whose hands remain debated among scholars.

The Tale of the Trolls and the Forgotten Treasures

As the ages passed, the city of Gondolin fell, leaving behind countless treasures, one of which was Orcrist. It’s uncertain how the trolls came to possess this ancient blade, but speculation points towards them plundering forgotten hoards in the mountains of the North.

The trolls, however, were not the only ones to find these hidden treasures. Bilbo Baggins, our beloved hobbit hero, also stumbled upon one such hoard in the troll cave, where he discovered Sting, the sword meant for him.
